#introduction Hi, I'm Jade a car girlie 🏳️‍⚧️ in metro-detroit, I'm into quirky cars & microcars/euro-quadricycles. I migrated over from twitter & saw all my car people move here. I'm going to interact with this instance thru my home on artisan.chat (out of convenience), but this account will be for "in the wild" finds & car talk. Here's a pic of my Solara SLE 'vert & a goofy pic of me seeing a Twizy in person (in the states!); I also used to own a few smartfortwos. Nice to meet y'all!
@jadesded do the smartfortwos count as micro? Or are you referring to older, tinier cars?
@dirtyderbi In my eyes they are, when I say I like micro I'm thinking like kei cars (& even some exocars but not UTV/LSV). Just the idea of a car being so tiny & light/maneuverable on the road akin to a motorcycle but planted with 4wheels excites me. Before Smart pulled out of the US market, I really enjoyed my 451's for that reason (loud1.l3cyl+rearengine+lowride&stiffsuspension=engaging (albeit slow) economy car). The older stuff I find endearing like reliant/peel but I like newer cars more.
@jadesded I completely forgot to consider kei cars, despite owning a jdm vehicle and looking at kei cars all the time😅
driving a tiny, slower vehicle fast > driving a larger, faster vehicle slow.
Got your eye on anything in particular these days?
@dirtyderbi You're good, the fact there are so many different classifications of cars for different markets is both fascinating and overwhelming & true that, or at least that's what I tell myself when someone out paces me lol and I've been longingly keeping my eye on that Twizy that's on marketplace in Ann Arbor, MI. The seller works @ Nimbus EV whose working on a similarly proportioned vehicle that I'm anticipating (they're aiming for Q3 2023), if their launch goes well I will def rent one.
@jadesded I did some reading about the Twizy and Nimbus. The suspension on the Nimbus looks very similar to a Piaggio MP3.
@dirtyderbi ya should be interesting, didn't get a chance to look at it when I testdrove the Twizy, (I believe their press prototype is in Cali). I did see a few other odd vehicles in their garage & an older Nimbus prototype, but imo they took the best ideas of microEVs & are making it into one single vehicle, but ya the tilting suspension seems like it'd be fun with a slight learning curve & I'll have to look more into the Piaggo MP3, thank you.
