From birdsite: Report of a structure #fire in #Boulder #Sunshine Canyon, 2900 Sunshine Canyon Rd., that has spread to between 1/4 and 1/2 acre in size and jumped a fire line during a 25-40mph wind event. Smoke is visible and smell-able in the city and some evaucations are underway with emergency calls going out to affected hill residents. Evacuation map is linked and clipped here for viewing.

Foothills fire forces hundreds to evacuate; containment at 25%

A wildfire that started as a structure fire in Sunshine Canyon has forced evacuations in the Boulder County foothills.

Original structure where the fire originated appears to be contained and smoldering.

Wildland fire is still uncontained and growing in size.

Evacuation area will be at East Boulder Community Center, 5660 Sioux Dr., and will open at 5:30pm

Sunshine Canyon Dr. is closed at Green Rock Dr. for westbound traffic other than emergency vehicles.

The wind is picking up speed and smoke levels are down to the mid-160s PM2.5 AQI in town.

The original structure fire that triggered the wildland fire appears to be extinguished but still smoldering.

City of Boulder has lifted the evacuation warning for neighborhoods east of Sunshine Canyon, but there are roadblocks in place at a few of the westbound routes into the fire zone, including on Linden and Mapleton. Smoke readings are reduced in the urban neighborhoods west of the fire but still high right up near the canyon.
