Twitter won't block that, because it is not a hyperlink, and also because it looks just like a Twitter handle.

@androgynous It gets easier quickly. In settings, you can set your feed to slow so it doesnโ€™t go flying by. People here ALWAYS add alt text to their pictures. For now, the only searchable terms are the ones youโ€™ve hashtagged . And your HOME feed is only people you follow, so follow some folks. My peeps are pretty great, feel free to Use my Following list to pick some good folks to follow and/or search hashtags for your fave subjects and follow people who have those in the bios.

@fdastous @androgynous there was an app you could use to import twitter contacts into mastodon if they exist here but Elon has been revoking privileges to these apps. The one I used before apparently no longer works

@androgynous Begging for boosts is not how Mastodon works. You won't get followers for free. There is no algorithm to sweep up commotion like on Twitter. You will have to work yourself. Toot and boost a lot, so people can get an idea what makes you tick. With just 15 posts, nobody can make sense of you.

@androgynous there are many fine posts with tips. I think the biggest one is participate. There is no algorithm pushing posts (and ads) at you. So post and follow people. Post an introduction (search for #introductiion for examples) and use a lot of hashtags because that's how things get found. Cheers!
