I'm really glad you're here in Mastodon - yes, you, personally. You either helped build it early on and believed in it before the Twitter exodus, or you're part of that exodus and had to leave a platform that you cared about bc of your morals, but either way, you're here and I think that's really cool. Thanks for joining, contributing your thoughts, efforts, and time, and making this a great place to be. I appreciate it. ❤️

A community is made of all the people in it. Your presence here matters. Maybe you haven't found your footing yet or figured out all the ins and outs but you're still making the effort. Maybe you're in none of those categories I mentioned and you know what? I'm glad you're here too! 🎉

I'm happy to have the Mastodon community and grateful for it. You're part of that. Thank you ❤️

@AbandonedAmerica Thank you! Just got “here” yesterday. It feels nice to be welcomed.

@AbandonedAmerica

Thanks for your kind words. 💚 Appreciate it. Nice to meet you too. Have a blessed day! 🍀

@AbandonedAmerica
Confession: I've masked a couple of "we were so much better here before you all showed up".
Nice to read you.
@AbandonedAmerica thank you for making this a nice place to be!
@AbandonedAmerica thanks!! I love your work btw!
@CacheFlow thank you so much! I appreciate it 🥰
@AbandonedAmerica I am glad I discovered your account here!

@AbandonedAmerica activity pub is the only true digital town square.

Twitter was always more like a conference venue.

@AbandonedAmerica The Fedi exists since 2008! Much older!
@vegos_f05 I get that - if you've been here since then, I'm thanking you for making it what it is ❤️
@AbandonedAmerica Followed for abandoned places, stayed for the wholesome content
@Bluewall aw, thanks, I turn into a schmoop after midnight, I'd say it's a curse but it's only mildly embarrassing

@AbandonedAmerica

Thank you-- I appreciate all your doing and being and saying

I never did the twit thing and haven't been here long, but I'm loving being a part of, hoping to contribute in some small way, perhaps even amplify the joy found here.

@caragraph you know, that's totally valid and worthy of celebration also. Being here and making it a nicer, better, and more enriching place is valuable no matter where you arrived at it from. Here's celebrating folks who were neither of those two scenarios too 🎉🎉🥂
@caragraph
It's great that you're not in a mourning period. Just followed!
@AbandonedAmerica
@MKSinSA @AbandonedAmerica wow, thank you! Your account is a treasure trove of valuable information. I'm going to have to visit you often, but I'll be very quiet and keep a low profile, I promise
@caragraph no need to be quiet, I love hearing from people here. That's one of my favorite parts of what I do 🥰
@AbandonedAmerica or were never on twitter, but a friend was getting on to mastodons, so you thought, hey, I think I’ll check this thing out, lol

@AbandonedAmerica Any platform is an equation drawn from it's parts.

Not the sum of it's parts, it's more complex than that, there's some differential calculus in there or something.

Thus far at least, this one has been pretty chill. :)

@AbandonedAmerica thanks for being there!
@LaurentB45 you bet, I'm glad to be on Mastodon with you fine folks
@AbandonedAmerica slowly learning the site, happy to have found you!
@AbandonedAmerica I'm a great fan of your posts on abandoned places...I watch "Abandoned Engineering" on UK tv most nights and it's utterly fascinating.
@AbandonedAmerica I actually hated twitter and avoided it like the plague. I came in the first wave of the exodus anyway just to try out something new, figuring all the cool kids would be on it soon :)
@AbandonedAmerica I believe this is a more peaceful and kind site. I wish I'd left sooner but at least I'm here now.
@AbandonedAmerica I'm so new that I don't know where the like button is, but thanks. 👍👍
@AbandonedAmerica glad to be here! This is already exponentially a more friendly and controlled user experience. Feels like you can both say the things you want and see the things you want. Loving it so far!
@AbandonedAmerica I'm looking forward to you photographing abandoned #twitter offices.
@AbandonedAmerica hello from London, Uk. Follow me!!
@AbandonedAmerica not sure of the statistics on how many authentic journalists have moved from the dark side. Would be great if there is virtually total solidarity at least eventually.
@PaddyRoggins It would be nice! Improbable, but nice
@AbandonedAmerica Oh my gosh!! I'm so glad I found you on here!!❤️ I'm a fan of your work & really enjoyed your straight from the heart posts on the bird site. Am looking forward to seeing more of your work here. And Charlie PeanutButter.🐕 #twitterexodus
@drlisanelson Thanks so much Lisa! It makes me really happy to see folks like you migrating over. I hope you find it to your liking! And yes, Price and Charlie PB are definitely getting their moment in the sun here, no worries 🥰
@AbandonedAmerica Well, thank you. I appreciate you being here, too. I used to ignore the Fedi, because it was just a protocol. Then a few years ago the bird platform I was on started deteriorating, so I tried Mastodon that was hip at that time, although it was in the Fedi. But it wasn’t a place. It was engineering. It is just now that the Twitter exodus pushes people to fight for a new place. I'm still skeptical we can turn this protocol based engineering platform into one. But now I have hope.
@nnz it's already there, friend. I think a lot of new people have committed to it, I'm one of them ❤️
