As someone who changed my #Mastodon server from vanilla Mastodon to the #Glitch fork, it's hard to see why anyone would stay on vanilla. Except for the increased risk of bugs, etc, that comes with using a fast-moving fork. But still. Glitch is great in so many little ways that make my experience better. https://glitch-soc.github.io/docs/ #mastoadmin
Introduction | Mastodon Glitch Edition

@effy I really really want everyone to ditch vanilla.
@Vampire If I was recreating my personal instance today I'd be very torn between Mastodon+glitch and Calckey
@effy Yeah, I also heard good things about Calckey
@effy @Vampire pog. Welp, lets just say we workin on smth to be able to switch instance backend to calc and keep all user data 👀
@effy Is the idea that those features will eventually be rolled out to mainstream Mastodon?
@gabrielquotes Some of them. Others are features that mainstream has already rejected (at least for the moment).
@gabrielquotes Such as Markdown formatting
@effy oh I would *love* formatted toots!
@effy Oh huh, really? What's the best thing about it?
@d Hard to say because there's so many small UI/UX improvements. The way it collapses notifications to save space is pretty good. The way it makes the columns wider to fill my screen is nice. The fact that the link at the bottom right of toots is to the remote instance is good.
@d I don't use the toot formatting much but I do like that I can sometimes see formatting in other people's toots.
@effy This looks interesting... Maybe I should have a look too. Thanks for sharing.
@effy You've pushed me even closer to trying this out.
