Leave Twitter, they said. Not on your life, at least as long as I keep laughing this hard.
@briankrebs Actually lol'd at that one when I saw it
@briankrebs Not being able to vote or watch the voting has been the first time I've mildly regretted ditching my birdsite account.
@dbendit @briankrebs I’m thankful that people are sharing the count here because I chose the same path as you.
@briankrebs I just deleted all my tweets and kept the profile to watch the world burn
@briankrebs Tell me how this comes out, Elon suspended my account.
@briankrebs he will just ban from Twitter all those who vote Yes.
@briankrebs I am firmly convinced that his Saudi investors told him at the World Cup he needed to step down and protect their investment, and the poll is how he is saving face, which is both sad and funny.
@MHowell @briankrebs This. I agree, this is the only explanation which makes any sense.

@MHowell @briankrebs

Eh, I don't see how losing a pool on your own site is less embarrassing than literally any other story he chose to come up with, including "I have more important things to do with my time".

I think Elon is immune to embarrassment.

@Joke @briankrebs I don't know a lot about him, other than the Twitter debacle, but since he's showing his face in public I agree you have a point.
@briankrebs at the same time, he just got 4m accounts to log in and interact with a post. Sweet, sweet post interaction and active account numbers to sell to advertisers. Outrage sells…

@hacks4pancakes @briankrebs

Wow, that's a really good point.

He's hopped pretty blatantly on the "selling anger" train and is probably going to make bank from it.

@briankrebs @shellspawn plus the step down is likely being pushed by shareholders as Tesla tanks; might just be a clumsy attempt to explain putting a figurehead in charge.
@briankrebs @shellspawn not trying to spoil the fun - I’m giggling too. But this feels like a ham-handed way to try to get advertising and good news coverage back.

@hacks4pancakes @briankrebs @shellspawn I'll admit I logged in just to vote in favor of him leaving.

Left immediately thereafter.

@laren @hacks4pancakes @briankrebs @shellspawn I voted no. He started it, he should bear the responsibility and not run away and hide like a child. There is too much damage, too much good people left. It won't be fixed with him gone, but it would give him someone to blame afterwards.

@egeltje @laren @hacks4pancakes @briankrebs

Nice. I dig the slightly accelerationism oriented answer. If this truly burns to the ground, then he should be at the helm the whole way down.

Him being at the helm all but guarantees it, but hey, semantics.

@hacks4pancakes @briankrebs Yes, in the same sense that setting fire to the drapes provides warmth for the night.
@jpanzer @briankrebs I didn’t say it was a smart plan.
@hacks4pancakes @briankrebs 😂 Fair enough.

“Just overheard Elon Musk discussing investment opportunities from the Amir of Qatar @TamimBinHamad & other Saudi Royals for his businesses, specifically Twitter,but from their body language & diplomatic response, it didn’t seem very positive. They asked him to find a suitable CEO”

Twitter
@hacks4pancakes @briankrebs can only pull this off so many times before you've burned the user base out on it
@briankrebs whether he gets lost or not, damage is done

@briankrebs Elon had planned to step down back when he was in court over the exorbitant pay he got as head of #Tesla which has lost much of it’s value since he first planned to buy #Twitter and last week, another 15%. Investors not happy with him tanking their stocks.
