The idea of rebuilding an audience from scratch without the baggage of thousands of followers including most of my management chain at work sounds pretty fun.

It's also weird that simply being in another Mastodon has made Twitter feel less necessary. I didn't feel that way using Instagram after Facebook or Snapchat & TikTok post-Instagram.

I can see why certain folks felt threatened by the competition.

@carnage4life Did knowing your managers were following you change what you tweeted? I guess if you were having something go down at work it could be easy for colleagues to interpret/misinterpret your tweets as being about them…

@jonhollander I've been getting complaints about my tweets being forwarded to managers for almost 15 years so I've always tweeted like my entire management chain was following me on Twitter. It was just funny when it became the actual case.

It does mean I have to be careful that some topics don't come across as subtweeting work or at least delay them by a couple of weeks if they actually were.
