What are some key distinctions in the literature on (and practice of) instructional design that teachers should know about? For example, “inquiry-based” vs “direct instruction”, “student-centered” vs “teacher-centered”, etc… what else?

@SBMost maybe things like formative vs. summative assessment, passive vs. active vs. collaborative learning (and the ICAP Framework), online/hybrid/face-to-face, synchronous vs. asynchronous, higher-order thinking vs. memorization (and Bloom's taxononomy), alignment, learning objectives vs. outcomes, backward design, metacognition, social-emotional learning, growth vs. fixed mindset, etc.
@dougholton Thanks! I just recently learned about Bloom's taxonomy... I thought it was very interesting!
