Ollie RandoNo reason we can't make something better over here. Losing Twitter you for sure lose some followers and have to think about how social media works again but that's fine ... my personal feeling was that Birdsite Science had become a clubby conversation among a few loud people debating the (often artificially introduced) flashpoint topic of the week. Fucking hated that. I have no ideas if things will be better here but I have felt good here for the past 1.5 months ... be optimistic!
@Epididymosome that wasn’t my take on it. Enough voices on varied topics that I felt were interesting and informative. Plus traffic news and other information, music, art , everything. I really see it as a pan-information platform along with discussion board. Really works for me.
@bbruneau Yah, I was exaggerating a bit to be dramatic. I for sure got something out of Twitter -- a bunch of news and art streams I haven't been able to replicate here, in particular -- but I stand by a nugget of truth about some pretty tedious trends. But anyway it is pretty obvious why so many of us could not stay over there, however useful it once was ... I don't think Mastodon will be identical but life is change ya know
