@hammancheez @micahflee @taylorlorenz This is Comcast's termination clause...
Comcast may [terminate your service] if it: ... (ii) determines that your use of the Service interferes with Comcast's ability to provide the Service to you or others...
Every one of your service providers has this clause, and if you get to the point they don't want you as a customer anymore, they will pull the plug.
@hammancheez @micahflee @taylorlorenz
Not saying it's right or wrong, it's just true. Muni-Internet FTW... No more censorship if the Internet is bound by the 1st Amendment.
Elon Musk does not understand the concept of the"free speach".
This is what happens when society glorifies technocrats as leaders.
It is good that this is happening, for us as society to reconsider our role models and icons.
@micahflee @taylorlorenz did you see it being stated as permanent elsewhere? Just curious since Lorenz does not mention that in the substack post and I'm wondering if this is going to be an ongoing thing he does with temporarily suspending journalists. There clearly needs to be collective action taken from media outlets
God do I want to know more about the potential article that has him this riled.
@mulad yeah it's not a debate, just a clarifying question. It's ridiculous in any case but if it was advertised as permanent all the more so (and probably indicative of how sensitive he is about whatever requests for comment Lorenz had).
In any case media outlets need to be backing their people harder and make some coordinated, substantive moves
Am I the only one that is so tired of hearing about what celebrities/billionaires do? The planet is getting hotter every day and we can little afford distractions like what Musk or Trump or MGT or YE have recently done to get more attention. We have real problems that need real solutions. Are they helping us with that? Even a little bit?
We could just turn our backs on them and they would eventually disappear.
@MorganEscherly
> Am I the only one [...]
I know it's a rhetorical question, but no, of course you're not. I think most of us are sick to death of the capitalist spectacle.
After the dust settles, I hope this platform will become part of the solution to the problems you refer to. The potential is there. Although the fact that all of this started because of a guy who carefully tracks every movement of one rich asshole's airplane does somewhat undercut my optimism...
You need to leave Twitter. The Twitter we knew is gone. Elmo is going to use this as a weapon against journalist - speak out and I’ll suspend you.
Even if reinstated - don’t go back.
