@therobburgessshow The Name of the Rose by #UmbertoEco brilliantly makes the case for the subversive power of humour.
@jamesedward @therobburgessshow and is a reminder that a movie will never beat a book. Prove me wrong!
@FactChallenged @therobburgessshow Controversial perhaps, but I think #JurassicPark the movie improves upon the book.
@jamesedward @therobburgessshow maybe I should have qualified. I *might* be a book snob😬
@FactChallenged @therobburgessshow I do generally agree that movie adaptations of beloved books tend to be disappointing, and there are some books that I kind of dread ever getting an adaptation in case they ruin them. Jurassic Park I see as a notable exception. Michael Crichton had already had his books adapted, and my impression is he wrote it cinematically, so Spielberg was really just finishing the job.
@jamesedward @therobburgessshow I couldn’t get myself to watch All the Pretty Horses. McCarthy is too good. And please, No Country is not so good on the screen, and I won’t watch The Road for fear it captures the book in ways other than basic horror film
