#Twitter is asking me to remove three tweets to have my permanent suspension lifted.
I have filed an appeal and have not removed the tweets.
@w7voa
They've given themselves 30 days to reinstate journo's accounts, I think.
@w7voa
I guess you should take this to your friendly congressman…
@xs4me2 to accomplish what? The US govt has no power to compel Twitter to act in any particular way. @w7voa
Twitter’s suspension of journalists sets ‘dangerous precedent’, UN warns

Pressure grows on Elon Musk as EU says social media platform could face sanctions over suspensions

The Guardian
@xs4me2 I read plenty of news, thanks. The US govt has no power to compel the chief twat do anything at all. @w7voa
@w7voa Proceed with care. That is a black hole; the only way out is to confess a violation of the T&C.

@w7voa You and your colleagues should deactivate your Twitter accounts.

Why should the public trust reporting tailored to the whims of a flakey, fash-friendly sociopath?

Your readers deserve better.

Democracy needs more from you right now.

@w7voa

Is it that you want back on, or are you just seeing what they do?

@w7voa

I think any journalist who operates in an environment where they concede that they could be banned at any moment is succumbing to a form of voluntary censorship. I experienced this in South Africa, as others did I am sure and remember the idea of 'banning'.

Having experienced this I assure you it's not the mark of a 'free speech' environment.

You can read about it here. https://www.britannica.com/topic/banning-South-African-law

Banning | History, Laws & Impact | Britannica

Banning, in South Africa, an administrative action by which publications, organizations, or assemblies could be outlawed and suppressed and individual persons could be placed under severe restrictions of their freedom of travel, association, and speech. Banning was an important tool in the South

Encyclopedia Britannica
@RobHadley @w7voa Agreed. I will be really disappointed if the journalists now unbanned after the #JournalismPurge now go back on the #BirdSite like everything is fine.

@BruceMirken @w7voa

I think they're going to learn one way or another.

@w7voa
I don't understand why canceling the appeal would restore your account any sooner. ???
@w7voa Wasn’t all the support team fired? Seems like Elmo is the “team.”
@w7voa they never address appeals.
“Please note that while we review your appeal, you won’t be able to access your Twitter account. We’ll take a look and will respond as soon as possible,” is now the notice on my #Twitter account.
@w7voa So am I understanding correctly that the current status of your Twitter account is that it's visible to others (it looks reinstated to someone looking for you on Twitter) but you can't use it unless you delete the three tweets?
@w7voa Paranoia is rampant over there right now! I've archived my #Twitter data and will close the door on 1/1.
@donnadechen @w7voa That notice has been on my Twitter account for two years. Everyone now knows what I learned two years ago —Twitter can suspend or ban your account for no reason or the wrong reason.
@donnadechen Me too. I think there’s a definite possibility that Twitter will fail completely, so downloading an archive of anything you care about seems a good precaution, even if you don’t leave the site.
@w7voa
Fight the good fight 👊
@w7voa Your great-grandchildren *might* get the verdict.

@w7voa

If I were you I'd be taking advantage of this spotlight to lead the charge of journalists off that platform. Musk can't be trusted. He will ban you again, he will read your DMs. Even if he unbanned me, no way would I ever go back.

@w7voa Unbelievable! Everyone should leave the birdsite as it is the most consequential and therefore effective response to all this!
@w7voa maybe if you brought in goats or gems as an offering you could find redemption.
@w7voa Bari Weiss will get to your ticket soon, your call is important to us.
@w7voa appeal was a joke in the best Twitter days, now it's completely useless. No human ever reads it.
@w7voa -- Frankly, as one who ISN'T in journalism, my gut reaction would be to let Musk rot in his own swill and use other social platforms instead.
@w7voa -- If journalists are "OK, we're back in, so we're cool, right?", Elon is just going to pull yet another foolish stunt on the pretext that he owns the company and can do whatever he wants to. Time to leave. Now.
@w7voa just leave. Twitter is a rigged game run by a disgusting authoritarian Trump supporter.
Playing a rigged game is foolish.
@w7voa has ElonJet done anything illegal?
put person(s) in possible danger that otherwise would not be?
@ozzy @w7voa if you know the tail number you can look up the current location of most aircraft, usually US military aircraft unless they're up to something. I use this site to keep tabs on CAL-fire planes during fire season.

@w7voa delete the tweets to get your account unbanned.

Then, use it to promote actual freedom of speech platforms (like Mastodon), free from narcissistic sociopath billionaires' feelings.

And then leave.

@w7voa What is your reasoning for wanting to stay on the platform after how you have been treated?

@sfierbaugh @w7voa this is what I don't get.

The optics of going back on Twitter after this calls everyone's credibility into question.

Now is the time to leave not after it happens a second or third time.

It's sickening the media can't see how bad this looks from the outside.

@w7voa Good for you. Hold your ground. You did nothing wrong.
@w7voa from a press freedom, democracy view I don’t get this, it’s his game. Does the appeal secure more followers for you?
@w7voa Please don't. Idea is: Censor yourself and get your audience back #blackmail

@w7voa

How is a suspension permanent if it can be lifted?

@w7voa don’t. Stand your ground

@w7voa real weird how they want to ban people based on public information 🤷‍♂️

good ol birb site

@w7voa

Will you do it? Be censored like that for sharing information?

@w7voa Very little reason to do that, go back, or trust that platform

@tramtrist @w7voa truth. Elon's just going to find another excuse to suspend his perceived adversaries at some later date.

He's already shown his colors for being mercurial and toxic.
