@john I think it is an opportunity lost if we simply shift from the bird to #Mastodon without reexamining things. For my key #FoolMeOnce #FoolMeTwice lesson is that I don't want my bird-PlanB to be owned by any private entity. So some have moved to a UI more friendly app. I refuse and use Mastodon instead.

@Kempton 100% - Federation is the key and I suspect we will see a surge of development in this space that makes it even more accessible and closed systems less attractive.
