Found out today that the #BirdApp has removed guidelines preventing public health misinformation while at the same time has been banning activist and journalist accounts.

I'm done. I deactivated my account. I have 30 days to change my mind, but I don't see that happening. It felt like pulling a rotten tooth. Painful but necessary.

#MastodonNewbie #TwitterMigration

@MKDean_writes Twitter was my online home for 13 years. Whenever I needed something to read and didn't have a book handy, I would just open the bird app on my phone and reliably find something interesting. It's hard to cut ties.

Now the tusk site is fulfilling that role quite well. 😎
Don't forget all the experts are recommending that you don't actually delete your account. If you do, your screen name becomes available for anyone to use. #twitterexodus #twittermigration

@dbsalk @MKDean_writes A reasonably well curated #Mastodon feed is magnitudes more interesting (and healthy) than #Twitter, because it is showing you things you want to see, not things an aggressively belligerent arsehole of an algorithm is shoving in your face to force you to react.
@Lorry @dbsalk @MKDean_writes@romancelandia. So, I will see cats, journalists, tech stuff, the occasional bad dad joke, cool bcEpiscopalians perhaps, and fumble along while I figure it out since EeehLawn is trippin’ ballz tonight with journalists and I’m so confused about the bird feed’s end goal.
@HelpingHands @Lorry Don't feel bad. Elmo is also confused about the bird site's end goal.
