A BIG problem with achieving better, broader solutions to the #ClimateCrisis is the amount of media & political energy that goes almost entirely toward EVs, due in large part to the amount of advertising money and lobbying that goes into vehicle sales, with not NEARLY enough attention and energy going into real solutions for fewer cars/less driving. But the priority HAS to be the latter, since it’s the part of the solution that will actually do the most public good. #cities #urbanism #EVs #cars

When it comes to urban transportation & the #ClimateCrisis, here’s the order world leaders and the media SHOULD be focusing on:

1. Walking/mobility aids
2. Biking/E-Biking
3. Public transit
4. Electric cars

Here’s the order they ARE focussing on:

1. Electric cars
2. Electric cars
3. Electric cars

@BrentToderian Politicians may find it difficult to give their rich constituents tax breaks for an eBike but easier to do it for an eCar. They may feel that people who ride eBikes are less likely to give them campaign contributions and votes, hence, the focus on electric cars. Ebikes will address climate change more than electric vehicles, but politics has never been about what is best and right.
