Here are some screen grabs of Nintendo dev tools from the 90s. Made for the Sony NEWS workstation by SRD this software was called CAD-TOOL and 3DCAD. #gamedev #retrogaming
@djlink Which game is the last picture ? Looks like SM All Stars but I'm not sure. 🤔
@pjap37 I think it might be some early builds of SMB3 where world map was different maybe? these are screens from a gigaleak a while back.

@djlink please direct immediately into my veins.

I love this stuff.

@djlink Those look amazing, so cool. What would be the modern equivalent of that 'CAD TOOL' sprite editor? I feel like most sprite sheets are not nearly as organised.
@djlink File Edit Windows Options Marge
@djlink Those NEWS systems were not cheap, but I suppose Sony was trying to compete with Sun and SGI. Because the audio subsystem on the SNES was made but Sony, the official audio editing tools were also on the NEWS system, including the tool to compress samples into the custom format. It took for ever to run, and I wrote a compressor that ran on the SNES hardware in under a second for a typical sample.
@djlink first shot looks like starfox fighter
@auditor_3d it is, guessing there they modelled the 3d stuff for Starfox
