Hmm. A bit weird. Tried to sign up with #NowBroadband but it crashes out when I put my mobile in with a "something went wrong; please call us" message. Tried #SkyBroadband instead (I know, same company); I get a technical error message after first form.

Is there a problem at Sky just as I'm trying to switch providers, or something weird about my mobile number that might cause an issue? I really do not want to call them.

Will try again tomorrow, but otherwise might have to go back to #Plusnet.

@BasicallyBenGB Might it not be more that they want you to call so they can miss-sell you a package you don't need?
@MattPCart I would hope not - but that is precisely why I don’t want to phone! Well, that and a cashback deal I’d rather not miss out on.

@BasicallyBenGB that was, of course, my experience and cynicism coming through.

I don't know what they're like these days, but I despised Sky for what they did. I paid over £50 a month for 7 years. When I rang to cancel they told me they could offer my the TV deal (£35 of the £50) for only £5.
And that I could have had that deal for years.
Bye, Sky.

@MattPCart I also had trouble with Sky TV who tried to hold me to a min. term that I hadn't agreed to (wasn't informed of when we negotiated a deal). Got it sorted but it wasn't a good experience.

I've got the Now Broadband issue fixed now though - a problem using my own domain for email. Switching to Gmail sorted it. Good thing about broadband over TV is, there should be minimal need for contact and switching is all managed by the new provider. So, in theory this should be straightforward 🤞
