Today’s ride.

When temperatures fall below freezing, the wind chill gets intense. But today was about 34F (1C), so tolerable. Road and trail conditions were ok, except where about had been plowed off county roads, over the barrier, & large chunks left in the walk/bike lanes. Pic 1 of a bridge crossing too narrow for snow removal equipment to navigate. So they left it sh¡tty, presumably til spring. #BikeTooter #winterbiking #minnesota #BikeMN #cycling #ebike #bikesMN

@MarkBrigham ooooooortlieb!!

good on you for getting out! 🚲

@travis Yup, I’m a fan of The Ortlieb panniers. New purchase this year for a bike tour, and they make a nice grocery-getter.

Riding a belt-drive, internal-geared hub e-bike from Priority. It handled the conditions nicely, but I’m gonna need studded tires if I do much more winter riding

@MarkBrigham for sure, i've loaded up my ortliebs with groceries many time, they work great!

thats a fancy bike! i've lusted after internally geared, belt-driven bikes for a while (not necessarily electrified).

definitely yeah, studded tires look like the way to go for that environment.

@travis
Yeah, the ebike was a luxury this year. It replaced some driving miles, hauled some groceries, and allowed me to keep up with my wife when she’s on her ebike. Also a joy to ride when a good portion of the ride is gonna be against a strong headwind.

I still enjoy human-powered bikes though.

@MarkBrigham hey thats great!

very pretty part of the world you're in

sometimes i wish i had a motor when i'm biking into the wind or up a hill 😆
