It’s not the same communities. My Twitter friends aren’t coming here. This week I’m saying goodbye to them . A few shared their emails.

I am housebound most of the time because of post-Covid fatigue. I just don’t see the possibility of making friends here in the same way. I participated in chats on Twitter for years and this is my last week doing it. My chat mates don’t get it really. I need to find old 90s style chat spaces for csa, trauma, & abuse survivors.

It's hard. You are in the in between space right now and everything seems shit. I too am mostly housebound, online chat is a huge part of my social world - to be around people who just get it.

Those communities are here you just have to find them. Try exploring (and posting under) tags like #spoonies #chronicillness #NEISvoid #trauma #cptsd

Hang in there. Connection takes time. Keep reaching. There are others seeking the same things you seek.

@vlrny I will check out more tags like this. I have to say goodbye to people and find new communities now. As I said in another reply, people aren’t exchangeable parts. There is real grief. 😭

I mean yes but I feel a bit like someone burnt my house down. That's a lot of community to rebuild for someone who's disabled and isolated and doesn't have a lot of real world community to fall back on.

And there's a wide awareness and bitterness now that someone can destroy it all on a whim, and something needs to be done to protect people from that (social networks regulated as utilities perhaps), but nothing is going to be done for a very long time if ever.

It sucks. It hurts. It is gutting.

But you are already taking steps to build a new community, a healthier community, on a foundation that can't be bought. Check out tags like #chronicillness #spoonies #NEISvoid or whatever your particular illness is.
