I'm coming around to the idea that #onlinecommunities based around a shared #identity can be great tools for exchanging information and coordinating the distribution of resources and in-person meetups in general but it's a terrible idea to use them as a primary #social space. 1/4

#onlinecommunity

The handful of times in the last few weeks when I've had actual in-person interaction it's become alarmingly clear to me how socially starved I've been and how online stuff just isn't sating that hunger. 2/4
I have this mythical idea in my mind of #solidarity with other #marginalizedpeople, especially people who are #marginalized in the same ways that I am or similar, as a moral principle, but I think my problem is that I've been conflating the #political with the #personal. 3/4
I think now that while #politicalsolidarity with other #marginalizedpeople is vital, social and personal #solidarity is just a myth, because marginalized people are just people, no more trustworthy on an individual level than any other person. 4/4

@autogynamelia

fwiw imho it’s possible to find solidarity with the specific cause even if not with the whole person

your union sib who goes to the rwnj church and might be an ass is still someone you work with and getting screwed by management

solidarity on one ground is not solidarity on all grounds

i’m probably wrong though so..
