One of the things I do like about the #Euro are the colors  🌈
It's still old skool paper money but at least it seems a bit more happier than the dollar for example
@stux it is actually made of 100% cotton, not regular paper.
@ericfreyss Oh really!  that's cool!

@ericfreyss @stux Because of the cotton, the money is washable. Making it easy to launder.

Contrary to most crypto-currencies it survives a washing machine easily.

@ericfreyss @stux US paper money is mostly cotton. 25% is linen which is made from the flax plant. The Crane paper company here in Massachusetts is the sole provider of the materials used to make US currency.
@ericfreyss @stux oh wow, I did not know that! Is there a reason for it?
@botolo86 @stux mostly their environmental sustainability, they last longer. https://www.dnb.nl/en/green-economy/euro-banknotes-of-sustainable-cotton/
Euro banknotes made of sustainable cotton

All the banknotes printed for DNB are made of sustainable cotton. And a special protective layer ensures they last longer.

@stux I like "old school" paper money because nobody can vanish it away with a push of a button
@stux The *American dollar - some of us (e.g., Canada, Australia, New Zealand) have dollars in colour! 😀
@CeciliaBell @stux yes, we here in Canada have very colourful money. Even our Toonies (two dollar coins) have a flash of colour sometimes, aside from its usual two tones, and our quarters occasionally have a bit of colour as well.
@stux they’re nowhere near as nice as the old Dutch notes though

@stux I wish they had gone with Irish tradition and used images of native animal species (from around Europe, not just Ireland) instead of fake generic architecture.

I agree with no people on notes, but imagine the fun we would have with all the potential animals that could be included.

@DToher @stux Fake? Those bridges are all in Spijkenisse, the Netherlands.
@mansr built after the notes were in circulation as I am sure that you are aware!
@stux Canadian money is like this as well.
@puckgrl @stux
Why are all the other countries trading paper Skittles ? :P
@stux looks just like New Zealand bank notes, so cheerful 😀

@stux

I like to have it on my pocket

@stux Colourful money is fun, like in Canada we even have a vertical $10 bill! And 2022's toonie (two dollar coin) has black plated nickel that looks sooo slick!
@ram @stux omg I want one of these black toonies
@stux i like that i can buy food with it
@stux IDR has this too :)
@stux colorful and fun, would almost encourage me to collect
@stux I always loved the colours of the guilders
@stux American dollars always look so depressing next to all the colorful paper money around the world
@stux That's also why I like Canadian currency!
@stux here in Brazil we also have colorful money. It's beautiful!
@stux From my understanding, this was done for accessibility. 🙂 ♿ https://www.ecb.europa.eu/euro/visually/html/index.en.html
