@jberg If there is one hope I have for Mastodon, it is that it stays more curated and on-topic than Twitter ever was.

I never liked the total random nature of it all, and its tendencies to propagate broadly appealing topics that mostly boil down to in-the-moment gossip, emotional reactions, and hearsay-as-gospel.

@Painless all that which you describe was also done by design as it is the site’s engine to generate revenue which makes even more disgusting.

@jberg Yeah pretty much no surprises there. Just an avalanche of content to bury so much noise with no real discussion of anything, and impossible to effectively moderate.
