Though it isn’t the “invasion” some politicians say it is, the bloc needs to stop kicking the can down the road, pretending redistribution constitutes a permanent solution.

@politico_eu_bot Dubious argument for the right of Europe to sustain its #privilege while insisting that deterrence efforts are to ‘end the suffering’ of asylum seekers in Europe. The same type of argument, designed to maintain #WhiteInnocence, was used to pass the 2022 #NationalityAndBordersAct in #UK which criminalises irregular arrivals. Apparently to save #AsylumSeekers from suffering we needed to 1)redefine them as criminals 2)imprison them, 3)send them to #Rwanda . Stranger than fiction.
