Republican governor Doug Ducey used his final days in office to build a makeshift “border wall” out of shipping crates along a small portion of the Arizona-Mexico border. So I have to ask:

Why are republicans proud to be driven by their fear of everything?

@flexghost that’s the one thing they do really well. Fear.
@flexghost
it has long been the party of cowards, but they are now embracing it in public.
they are terrified of 12 year olds, be they Mexican, Honduran, Muslim girls, American Black boys or trans girls...
@AnthonyUplandpoetWatkins I feel like this will be a long list
@flexghost
Yes, I was just hitting the hotspot. The list is very long.
@flexghost I hope the Mexican folks turn this wall into a condo complex!
@sirpushalot we should have for America’s exploding homeless population
@flexghost He's the worst - anti public education, anti science, anti enviornment.... #ducey #antienvironment
@flexghost Because fear sells. And not much unites people like being against something/someone else. Translation: power play.
@JulieNye gotta be the right answer. To sensible people this is anything but power, though
@flexghost I'm not sure "sensible" is completely the prevailing outlook here in AZ yet. It might be creeping that direction, but there's still plenty of opposition, maybe especially here in the SE corner.
@JulieNye 100%. Prevailing outlook from phx = lots of red among the blue, anti-science, racist, anti-public education....
@rizzo Good description. There is a growing 🌊 presence over here in Cochise county, really & truly. i'm here. & can see. There's some traction & influence in a way that I don't think existed 5-10yrs ago. But there is a LONG way to go.
@flexghost And, of course, we should not overlook the basic "neener-neener" argumentative face-making of a 2nd grader. Even when it serves no purpose.
@JulieNye it’s incredible that 2nd grade tactics work so well on their base. Wait. No it’s not.
@flexghost Because that’s all they have and the fear and hate has to be maintained somehow. I don’t think it’s necessarily that their leaders fear it but they know that the people who believe them do. It’s much easier to sell than compassion and understanding. That takes effort and it requires us to take a good look at ourselves.
@KayVay it’s hilarious how the Christian right wing is devoid of compassion
@flexghost I call the cherry pickers of their Bible 😊
@flexghost Looks like an exercise in futility, doesn’t it?
@flexghost if he’s going to do something that dumb using shipping containers, perhaps he could at least have them outfitted as tiny homes… Might as well make some living spaces while going through all the effort
@flexghost It would be great if someone with a cutting torch could pop some doors and windows into those things and it might become a trendy large-scale housing opportunity for people passing through.
@flexghost
I think it will double up as low income housing
