Another amazing match in the #worldcup . Brilliant effort by #Morocco - the first African team to make it to a WC semi final . Ronaldo , walks straight off the pitch by himself in tears, not congratulating the opposition or consoling the younger players or other team mates for whom it is the last chance too. Or thanking the fans. Understandable? Maybe. Graceless nonetheless
@emilybell he has to get to his Saudi paycheck
@emilybell Yet his activism in terms of prevention of HIV/Aids to slavery and child trafficking and his ambassadorial role for Save the Children, UNICEF, World Vision together with his donation of 2 million to Portugese hospitals allied to his championing of the persecuted people of Palestine, seems to go unnoticed 🤷‍♂️
@Spulzie it is true his charitable donations are significant - and have been very well reported (he’s often at the top of sports stars who donate) though he has a complicated off-field legacy. One thing though re Palestine - that claim has been repeatedly debunked. He didn’t donate his golden boot money, and has not made messages of support . These are false claims which seem to originate from an Iranian broadcast
@emilybell Jings! You surely bested me with that reply. Just as I was noticing how well on your way to perfection you are.
@emilybell a fannybaw he is 🤷‍♂️😳🤦‍♂️🤪🤣
@emilybell I was thinking about this after the England-France game when Giroud consoled a couple of the ENG players before celebrating with his team. Yes it’s easier to be gracious in victory than defeat, but I thought that was kind and classy of him.
