Partner, on learning Honey Jumbles are no longer available at the shops, has asked me to make some.

It’s been a long time since I’ve made any, and they’re a simple bake - except that they really need to be left overnight for the flavours to develop, and to change from a biscuit to that lovely, cake-like texture.

So I’ll have to make a distraction bake alongside, to give the Honey Jumbles a chance.

Hmmmm.

Oddly enough, my recipe doesn’t contain any honey. Only golden syrup. Other more modern recipes have honey, and I’ve seen still others with treacle.

@Wonderdog I actually thought a honey jumble was that kid treat with rice bubbles and honey and butter in pattypans.

@Inge ahhhh, the disputed nomenclature of Aussie bikkies!

It’s tricky. I know the my thing you might be thinking of - I make those with cornflakes and honey, peanuts, and butter, in patty pans. In NSW, I call them Honey Joys, as does the Kellogg’s site (their recipe has no peanuts); in my Women’s Weekly book, they’re Honey Snaps. In South Australia, they’re called something else, though?

But I have heard those called Honey Jumbles.

@Wonderdog cornflakes! That's right. But a honey jumble to me.
