Hello James,

Thanks for starting this server. I am loving the pagan, polytheistic, pluralistic nature of Mastodon and have decided to have 4-5 accounts on instances whose visions I really care about. #Peace is my favorite cause. I will not only be boosting the post, but joining the server and would love to become more active in the Peace community. Nukes are for tyrants only, not for the People.

It will be a long road, but we will get there in our lifetimes. Peace.

@jmb I'm sorry if I'm asking strange question, but how will boosting this single post help your server to federate with wider network?

If you want to get more eyes on things you post you have two options as far as I know:

a) add a relay to your server - it depends on who's on a relay, but that can get your posts around but also many posts to your server

b) write good content, tag it, + engage by commenting, discuss things.. your content will get boosted and you'll get followed

It will help my new server federate with the wider Mastodon network.

This is the third time I see this, and a Fediverse expert has explained why it’s just wrong, why boosting one post has no direct effect. (It only can do so indirectly, by gaining you followers, but that’s true for any boost and other ways to spread the word, so it doesn’t count.)
