These are moon rocks. Found on the Dinosaur Trail QLD.
If you look at the first rock you can see a fossilised Ammonite shell and also some small mussel type shells.
They grow from a "seed" possibly a fossil or bit of sand. The end result is like concrete. Well preserved fossils can be found in the centres of some.
The moon rocks here are large boulders. They grow into all different sizes.

One of the moon rocks had been broken open and inside is this Ammonite fossilised with what looks like quartz? Lots of little shells and shell impressions are in the rock structure as well.

I wanted to find an Ammonite fossil. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything except for little shells in the broken shards of moon rock. It wasn't till I got home that I saw this hiding in the rock. It's a little baby Ammonite !!!🌼

This lady is my new hero, she read an article about these formations, then went and found them for herself, just because she was interested. I would love to know if they a giant fossil clams or moon rocks like in my photo above 👆

@daisyeverlasting very cool. Yet another place I must visit. 😁

Your post prompted me to wonder about Richmonds. I knew about three of them. Turns out there's one in every state bar WA, which makes do with a Lake Richmond, and the territories miss out.

Apologies for going off track. Dinosaurs and fossils are a much cooler topic. 😁

@daisyeverlasting wow, i've never heard of these!
