Congress is considering extending—at a cost of up to $600 billion—three expiring corporate tax cuts from 2017’s Trump-GOP tax scam.

Don't tell us we can't afford an expanded Child Tax Credit. #CTCNow

@rbreich and the student loan help for millions !
@rbreich they can do this but take away social security?? We see them for who they are - stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
@rbreich There’s always money 💰 What’s lacking is a sense of the general welfare of the people.
@rbreich Cuz yeah multimillionaires need more yachts, children can do with out healthcare, school lunches and actual shelter (see New Mexico) that tax dollars could help pay for
@rbreich That is bullshit. My family’s federal income tax went UP $7500 per year under that #GOPTaxScam bill.
@rbreich I’m actually against the Child Tax Credit. We shouldn’t be subsidizing other peoples’ babies. Not with #overpopulation pushing 8B humans on a planet that could barely support 2B before GMO. You want kids? Pay for ‘em yourself.
@scenario @rbreich The CTC would not be "subsidizing other peoples babies" It would be providing workers for the Economy. I don't know if you noticed but there is a pretty serious Worker Shortage going on and CTC would allow the stay at home parent to work.
@Bargdaffy @rbreich There's a worker shortage because A) smart people no longer want to have babies they can't afford to raise and educate, and B) Republicans got rid of all the workers. We have entered the #Idiocracy phase of human existence.
@scenario @rbreich So you are for Billionaires getting an extended Tax Break but not Working Moms covered for Child Care payments so that they can actually go to Work.
@Bargdaffy @rbreich When and where did I say that? I'm not for tax breaks for anyone. Not billionaires, not parents. I'm 100% for a 20% flat federal tax on people and corporations.
@scenario @Bargdaffy @rbreich flat taxes are regressive.
20% for the family with a combined income of $70,000 is an enormous burden when compared to a corporation paying 20% on $700,000,000 in profits.
@CatDragon @Bargdaffy @rbreich Not if you also regulate wages fairly.
@scenario @Bargdaffy @rbreich and prices as well?
That’s magical thinking.
@CatDragon @scenario @rbreich Good Shot Catherine. This guy must own a Pizza Parlor or something....
@scenario @rbreich A 20% flat tax on everyone is a major league regressive tax. What Level of Math did you attain?
@scenario @rbreich oh give me a freakin break. Americans are not overpopulating. People are increasingly urbanizing which is more efficient way of living. A shrinking population is not a healthy one.
@daisydog @rbreich You're talking to someone who has fought developers in court and won. I have 2+ acres and wildlife to protect against urban growth. Urbanize somewhere else so I can get to a grocery store and back within an hour.
@rbreich Can’t afford student loan forgiveness either. Go figure.
@rbreich or forgive student loans.

@rbreich Why are you asking us to retweet something to stop Congress from extending the tax cuts? Wouldn't writing and calling our congress members be the way?

And why are you putting this on Mastodon where many of us have quit twitter???

@rbreich To email your MOCs, feel free to use my words:
Do NOT extend these 3 overly generous tax credits to corporations & private equity firms:
* Research and Experimentation Tax Credit of 2022
*Net Interest Tax Deduction (beyond 2022)
*100% Bonus Depreciation (beyond 2023)

These Trump tax giveaways will remove ~ $1.6 TRILLION over just the 1st decade, WIPING OUT the 15% Corporate Alt Min Tax in the Inflation Red. Act.

Please OPPOSE corporate tax breaks in any lame-duck spending package.

@rbreich surely this will not pass the Senate?

@rbreich

But, "corporations are people".

And, they are demonstrably "people" of greater importance than children.

Because corporations are "job creator" type "people".

The more you look the more you can see the circularity of the un-reasoning..
.

@rbreich
Why the heck would they do that?
