CarolineCherry@revdjenk @StevenBeschloss This is extremely concerning. It’s as if they haven’t understood the dangers posed by the Republicans . In uk we have people living in bubbles too that are unaware of the scale of suffering of others or somehow believe that they are more capable of navigating the economy despite huge poverty/ unrest emerging. Small state philosophy is a disaster in a smaller poorer country that has been ripped out of the protection of the EU.

@StevenBeschloss It’s rather disturbing. Walker was clearly so far out of his intellectual depth it was laughable…yet was the first choice of nearly 1.7 million voters. I’ll never understand why people vote for unqualified dolts.

I have started to consider that perhaps some people vote for very odd reasons. They believe that a party will defend their interests and it’s not even about what the politicians say. In UK we now have a generation of far right voices arguing we are being invaded. It is tragic all because of the Brexit vote.

We see the same thing in Canada. Our political right now represents some of the weirdest conspiracy theories — yet people still voted for them. It wasn’t always like this…but we’re living in a strange time. The Brexit vote was the point at which I began to wonder what the heck was going on…it made no sense to me.

Black voter and newish Georgia resident, here. Warnock won and I STILL could not sleep tonight. TOO much was revealed about the Republican Party with this. I have been profoundly unsettled for months.
But yes, I am relieved to LITERAL TEARS that Warnock won. I wasn't sure how I could continue to live in this state.

@sighthound I'm pleased that we have helped Democrats retain the Senate twice in a row in a state where Republicans control the governorship, both houses of the state legislature, and created 98 pages of hostile election rules after 2020. We did this despite obstacles.

In the uk we keep watching because we have a similar MPs in the Conservative party who are shamelessly using populist rabid messages to keep in power. They’ve already put in voting restrictions , complex ID requirements for young people to prevent votes ( they regularly meet with Republicans as well as US donors). Currently we have been trying to expose these links but press media is complicit.

Kevin B 🇺🇸🇺🇦@StevenBeschloss I’ve come to the conclusion republicans are beyond salvation. I used to vote person over party back example in the days of Sen John Warner. Although I had always been at least a little left of center, I used to think some “checks” were ok plus with him there was the Liz Taylor factor for a few years 🤷🏻♂️. But “checks” and “treason”, “trying to overthrow our government” , etc two different things. The GOP, with current members must be defeated across the board.
