Conservatives were furious when a baker had to bake a cake for a gay couple. But now they want to force Apple to host content it finds harmful and dangerous?
Make it make sense.
@georgetakei The only principle of American conservatives is "I win, you shut up." Looking for more than that is just wrestling with pigs.
@georgetakei If it made sense it wouldn't be conservative.

@georgetakei

The only lesson I can draw from this: Republicans dislike gays, but like child pornography.

@georgetakei making sense is not one of their strengths.
@georgetakei "We want to force people to do our stuff, but not be forced to do their stuff."
@georgetakei The real premise is "we should always win and everyone has to like us, and also the people we hate should stop existing"

@georgetakei

The GOP party platform consists solely of "Rights for me, not for thee."

@Some_Emo_Chick @georgetakei Have they adopted a platform? My understanding was they didn’t adopt one in 2020 and it was implicitly to support Trump in his efforts. Maybe that was only for the presidential campaign.
@ryanlarrabure @georgetakei This one is more of an unspoken rule.
@ryanlarrabure @Some_Emo_Chick @georgetakei apparently it's to oppose anything the Democrats support, endless investigations of the (private citizen) children of Democratic politicians, and spread conspiracy theories
@georgetakei You want politics to make sense? Have you recently arrived to this planet? 😁
@georgetakei ah but in this case it’s their content so obviously it’s ok. (Please read in a voice dripping sarcasm)
@georgetakei It's simple. Conservatives want to control everything so that they never have to feel uncomfortable or examine the bigotry that underlies their power.
@georgetakei nice observation. Perfect example of hypocrisy.
@georgetakei “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
-Frank Wilhoit (the classical music one, not the Drake University one)
@georgetakei their definition of free speech is speech they like, but is actually dangerous and discriminatory
@georgetakei It's funny how that works. When it's not their tribe, hang-em, burn-em. But as soon it's one of them, "they didn't know" or "I'm sure that's not what they meant.".

@georgetakei You can't reason someone (or a group of someones) out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

If they could make it make sense, they wouldn't be conservative.

@georgetakei They want to punish their enemies and don’t want to be punished themselves. No higher principles at work than that.
@georgetakei they’re completely okay with left leaning journalists being banned from twitter under the guise of “it’s a privately owned company”, but can’t handle Apple choosing to cut off Twitter because it’s a liability to a public company and it’s shareholders 💀
@georgetakei I’d be more concerned if it made sense.
@georgetakei "Make it make sense"... Where have YOU been the last 50 years?
@georgetakei id bake a cake for ya anytime George but my wife would do a much better job LOL I can’t cook. Why don’t we have replicators yet? #StarTrek #LgbtAlly
@georgetakei - “Don’t bite the forbidden Apple,” George. 🍎 🍏
@georgetakei one could argue that Apple is a religion - or at least a cult. So shouldn't religious freedom laws cover it? 🤣
@MxAlba @georgetakei idk but they certainly cover Tim Cook being a Christian and if he wants to hold up literally anything Jesus ever said in the Bible

@georgetakei They want Apple's money. They don't want gay people's money.

Always follow the money.

@georgetakei Sorry, I don't have enough cognitive dissonance to do that.

@georgetakei

It makes no sense. They claim their God approves of their bigotry, when in truth, God would be calling out their unChristian-like attitudes and denouncing their bigotry, the same as the Man-God from Apple.

@georgetakei They don't see #Apple as a person, much like they did not see a bakery as a business, all they saw was the baker.

@georgetakei conservatives are the biggest snowflakes on the planet and require so much validation from others it makes my codependent ass seem normal by comparison

(But like I’m cool tho right? Right?!)

@georgetakei when they say freedom, they specifically mean "freedom for me"
They want businesses to have rights if and only if said businesses are furthering their agenda
They want freedom of speech, but they don't want anyone to be allowed to tell them they're wrong
@georgetakei They can't make it make sense. They want the unfettered ability to be cruel, sans consequences.
@georgetakei The stupid burns deep among "conservatives"

@georgetakei Freedom of Choice, no company committed to place ads on a platform.

No company is committed to serve the app of a non moderated social media platform on their devices, especially if the owner don't knows that freedom of speech dosen't mean to spread lies, fake-facts and half-truth.

@georgetakei I hope Apple holds their ground and continues to refrain from supporting apps that publish hate speech.
@georgetakei Apple allows violent games on its site. Games where women report harassment on a regular basis. It’s Apple’s hypocrisy that makes them vulnerable.
@georgetakei Rules for thee but not for me! This is the beating heart of fascism. 'I know best. I get to decide. Your views are irrelevant.'
@georgetakei It makes perfect sense in their upside down world. Also, it's a mortal sin to tell conservatives what to do because God gave *them* the right and obligation to tell others what to do, or something.
@georgetakei free speech only work one way for them: their way.
@georgetakei
Politics in the UK is a complete shambles I would not vote for any of the main parties
@georgetakei if only you can make it make sense 😐
@georgetakei Conservative and consistentcy may start with the same syllable, but...
@georgetakei I don't understand Musk's (and his fascist followers) point about free speech - no one's stopping him or them from saying anything. Apple aren't even preventing their users accessing it. they're just thinking about not carrying the official app iOS users can use to access that data. Right wing iOS based twitter users can still consume their pain and hate via a web browser.
@georgetakei "Rules for Thee, not for MEEEE!!"
@georgetakei was anyone compelled to bake the cake in the end?
@georgetakei it makes perfect sense if you don't look for logical consistency beyond that they are authoritarians who think they get to decide what is right for others
@georgetakei I think Americans don’t understand their system. Twitter is a private company. Apple is a private company. Blaming them for not doing the job an unbiased tax-funded, publicly owned media platform is supposed to do (something other developed countries offer) shows how the USA suffer from an understanding of the free market, the monster they created and bend over for day after day.
@georgetakei Conservatives have double standards
@georgetakei at least they are consistently inconsistent
@georgetakei : George, sorry, can't help - you were always far beter at science fiction than I.
@georgetakei and hopefully Google Play Store soon follows. It is getting kinda ridculious. I can’t believe I was a champion of his when he was pushing out rockets and igniting electrification. Now from prior employees, he is a disturbed, horrible individual.

@georgetakei

It makes sense in their twisted minds.

That's why conservatives should never be allowed to govern anything.
