So wait... the standard-bearer of the Republican Party has called for the "termination" of the Constitution, but it's progressives who don't believe in the rule of law?
@rbreich is he ever going to be jailed for anything.
Seriously nobody seems to be able to get him
@Debhruin @rbreich
To be frank and imo, @ this point it only leaves 2 options, he is more useful as an opponent or there isn't anything that others haven't been absolved for (ie he will only be prosecuted if he needs to be an example, rather thana scarecrow).
It's one massive disenchantment for me, it's not about fairness, honesty, but about using him. And don't get me wrong, I think he's the worst of your presidents over my lifetime, except for his providing quiet Intel loudly, in retrospect.

@Debhruin @rbreich it takes time. I know people hate to hear that, but you get one shot at this. If a jury, made roughly of 1/2 republicans, finds sufficient excuse to let him go, that’s it. The only chance.

All of the talk about “i can make anything declassified”, and “library book defense” were not for the courts who correctly tossed the lies out, but to effect the jury poll and give them an excuse to nullify..

@rbreich Republicans don't argue what they believe. They argue what they want others to believe.
@rbreich and toothless Joe and uncle-dad can’t wait to vote a straight red ticket.
@rbreich How is it newsworthy that the GOP continues to play "heads-we-win, tails-you-lose"? Nothing new here. The treasonous [expletives deleted] is just giving us more of same...and we're continuing to boost his signal, why I don't know.
@rbreich If he “terminated” The Constitution, he also nullifies the Second Amendment. Ironic that it’s republicans “coming for your guns,” isn’t it?
@ReggieGoodwin I think the idea is they'll rewrite a new Constituion that has broader gun rights.
@antimagaglitterbomb If they did: 1. Can they actually write? 2. I vote narrowed down to only white cisgender, evangelical males, and polygamy like “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
@rbreich The only reason Trump is still walking around is the Constitution.
@Catfinger @rbreich I'd say it's feckless GOPers who won't UPHOLD the constitution.
@rbreich Well, yeah.
Also, his milkshake brings all the bigots to the yard,
bigots to the yard,
bigots to the yard, . . .😋
@rbreich I believe what they want is to suspend the Constitution, then write a new Constitution the way THEY want it.

@rbreich

"For my friends, anything. For my enemies, the law" -- Oscar R. Benavides, President of Peru

@rbreich Yep! Because Hunter Biden… something something… liberal news media bias … something something … critical race theory. Therefore J6 was actually all Democrats.

Clearly, my unassailable logic demostrates that the left is actually the party of lawbreakers.

@rbreich These are no longer dogwhistles. They’re bat signals. A smart friend thinks Trump could only incite 60K MAGA to violence, max. I think it’s more like 6M.
Also conservatives: "war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength."
@mndatanerd we've always been at war with EastAsia
@rbreich Freedumb for me. The Constitution for thee.

@rbreich
Trump's call for terminating the Constitution constitutes an "act of insurrection or rebellion." As such, he should be barred from serving in public office -- as provided by Article 3 of the 14th Amendment.

Had Trump called for amending the Constitution, there would be no foul. Everyone is free to propose or support amendments -- no matter how ill formed. But, to suggest that the Constitution should be ignored is unforgivably insurrectionist and rebellious.

@bobwyman @rbreich When Trump was sworn in as a new president, he pledged to uphold the Constitution. His call to terminate it should tell everyone what his true character and motives are. Unfortunately, too many dimwits will never see the irony, or his utter disrespect for the law.
@rbreich You can't be an originalist AND want to destroy the constitution. The mental gymnastics are astounding.
@rbreich You can't do gymnastics with something you don't have, now, can you.
@rbreich During the 2016 election (WHICH HE LOST!!!), he said he could shoot a person and wouldn't lose any voters. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jan/24/donald-trump-says-he-could-shoot-somebody-and-still-not-lose-voters I guess it is true, since he already lost all INTELLIGENT VOTERS!
Donald Trump: 'I could shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters'

Republican frontrunner is so supremely confident that he believes he could commit murder and maintain his lead over his opponents

The Guardian
@rbreich Seems like either we have the government officials strip them of any rights, like running for presidency, and arresting them like anyone else who commits crimes, or people start riots and down go all their businesses and profits. The constitution is there to ensure law and order for a civilized society. Them getting rid of it will mean that no law or order is necessary so riots it will be. We’re not going to keep paying taxes so that we get exploited, arrested and jailed, while they get rewarded. We’re paying them taxes so they uphold civil duty and discourse, and anyone who chooses to evade it gets proper repercussions. There are millions of us and we will take to the streets and their businesses if the government doesn’t want to uphold their job and responsibilities.
@rbreich Orange menace will continue to become more absurd in his quest for attention. Don't give it to him.
@rbreich It’s utterly amazing how trumpers will squeal the Dems are trying to turn this country into communist rule, all the while he does this poop out in the open and they can’t see it, but then again Jim Jones followers didn’t see it either..

@rbreich the rules according to the GQP .. All for me .. None for thee ..

All I can think of is a line out of a Clint Eastwood movie .. Don't go away mad .. just go away. That's exactly what I think of the GQP party.

@rbreich I don't know about you, but I get whiplash over how fast Republicans have gone from "the Constitution is a holy, sacred document inspired by God, that Democrats are trying to destroy" to "we are going to have a sedition, and the constitution needs to be terminated, because we lost an election."
@rbreich , it's all a question of whose rule of whose law.
@rbreich that trump guy is blatantly insane and has lost all connection to reality.
That's what happens when you sail tru life on privilege alone.
@rbreich It seems to me that the political solution is to have mandatory voting. About 2 dozen countries have this. This would reduce the value of keeping your base constantly angry to hype "turnout" and would cause the great middle who are neither Red or Blue to decide most elections. Those people are sitting out a lot of elections now but if they did vote they would not vote for the most extreme candidates who are just pandering to the base of a particular party. Implementation would be difficult, but we could look to those other countries who already do this.
@rbreich I think Trump has completely detached himself from any sense of reality. It's terrifying really.
@rbreich hadn't heard that alt thinking and projection. Trump is a very sick man. He wants to run in OUR ELECTIONS AND LIVE IN OUR WHITE HOUSE? SMH.
@rbreich Indeed. The GOP went in no time flat from "we're going to read the whole of COTUS from the House floor to pledge our fealty to it as the Fundamental Law" to "terminate the COTUS thing -- it's getting in the way of our quest for power everlasting."
@rbreich Sounds about right. Far right, that is.
@rbreich Anyone having sworn the oath to protect the Constitution from all enemies foreign & domestic that still support tfg, have violated that oath & should resign, be removed from office or separated from service with an ‘other than dishonorable discharge’.
@rbreich I guess the Constitution must call for termination of Trump
@rbreich Might as well call the GOP = The Group of projectionists. That’s all they do.

@rbreich

Do they realise that terminating the Constitution would mean terminating the Second Amendment and so governments could Take Away Their Guns?

@rbreich Dangerous hyperbole not to be dismissed, but surely a DOJ CEI and/or RICO are sitting as a waiting appetizer for the right USAO to pull together?
@rbreich He is advocating apostasy which also means treason. A rubber room or a prison cell awaits if he/they act.
@rbreich yes, because the natural Trumpian response to a belief that the constitution was violated is to terminate the constitution.
@rbreich more of their hypocrisy is laid bare everyday.
@rbreich in their warped and twisted view, this is absolutely correct. In their minds, Trump was the most honest, patriotic representative of ALL Americans and the best US president we have ever seen. Unreal!
@rbreich ...every blue city and state is where the crime is rampant...where murders are the highest along with rapes and assaults...so..YES
