Shame on all of these #media outlets with misleading headlines about #iran.

1) the morality police hasn’t been “disbanded” or “shut down”. A single official (prosecutor general) vaguely suggested “pausing” or suspending it for a bit

2) This is a play for international community to ease up pressure on the Iranian government. It’s a smokescreen.

Aljazeera seems to get it more accurately: https://apple.news/A4Qkjii46Se-CrZeZ2M1uzQ

Iran suspends morality police. What does it mean? — Al Jazeera

The Islamic guidance patrol may be gone for now after months of protests, but mandatory hijab is not.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still testament to the strength and sacrifice the protesters made that these thugs are even trying to appease the world. But it means nothing about their actual intentions. They are a lying mafia with power.
Ugh, I forgot image descriptions! Sorry folks. The images are screenshots of headlines from BBC, USA Today, Jerusalem Post, and Vanity Fair - all saying the morality police is being “disbanded”, “abolished, or “shut down”.
Hoj
Here in Austria and Germany are the same News like you said.
Its Always the same with News.They give us News that they think its good for us.😂😂
The world is same like 1000 Years back.
We Humans have not change. We are only more advance in tehnik.

@mathcolorstrees So the media has been played and it looks like it was not hard to do.
Just wow!
@mathcolorstrees Appreciate the link. Thank you!
@mathcolorstrees This is disappointing news but thanks for clarifying.

Thank you, @mathcolorstrees
#notsofast 😞

"No senior official has seriously signalled in public that a major change in hijab laws could be implemented soon. Top authorities have emphasised over the years that they consider the issue to be a “red line.""

@mathcolorstrees Thanks for the note of caution.
@mathcolorstrees The CBC Radio news reported that this was announced, but only the Attorney General said this & it could not be confirmed. It did not mean there was any change in the laws.
@rabbijill Yes, I posted the debunking twice: Once under my original post, and once in a separate one. @mathcolorstrees @mhawkturner
@mathcolorstrees Of all the stupid things to cause a ruckus over, trying to enforce a dress code in the twenty-first century is up toward the top.
@mathcolorstrees journalism is in sorry shape.
@mathcolorstrees
From the nytimes. They quoted the statement:
@mathcolorstrees @stux I don’t trust the press in this situation. I get more from the personal posts on TikTok

@mathcolorstrees

The Washington Post was a little more cautious: "Iranian official signals possible suspension of morality police"

@dcozy yes that’s the right headline!
@mathcolorstrees
Thanks for your perspective. My news outlets failed to look beyond one official's vague statement.
@mathcolorstrees I saw those headlines but didn't believe a word. Religious extremists don't care about their image; they care about power.
@mathcolorstrees Thank you for this. I was foaming at the mouth when i heard the "news" - like, even IF the morality police was suspended (which it isn't), it wouldn't change anything about the laws they were enforcing.
It's just an attempt at gaslighting and deterring the media and international interest. And it will probably work - media coverage has already been waning. They're bored and looking for the next outrage.
@mathcolorstrees Thank you for the pointer to the Aljazeera piece!
@mathcolorstrees Thank you letting us know , who is really trying to help Iran and the people
@mathcolorstrees the only thing that can bring real change is a new regime which tears the religion out of your politics, or at least builds a big wall with a heavy gate between the two. It will get much worse before it can get better and I empathsize with normal Iranians on this.
Elnaz Rekabi: Family home of Iranian climber demolished

Elnaz Rekabi became a hero of the protest movement after competing abroad with her hair uncovered.

@mathcolorstrees Morality police, thought police? 1984 much?
@mathcolorstrees It's so important to understand what is really going on in a country with a secretive and volatile government.
@mathcolorstrees I think what protestors chant is way ahead of others with the only solution for under such regimes. I was permanently suspended from twitter for saying the same. It's a very dangerous truth that these decrepit old men that clutch power for one REAL reason; to insure they live a life of luxury at the expense of all others. This can be applied around the globe. They will render the bulk of a population expendable in their wars to ensure this. protestors have spun it around
