Public replies:
Don’t show in Local or Federated
Do show in Home if you are following the person.
Do show in the sender’s timeline
Do show in Home if you commented on the post too (I think? It seems that way?)
Unlisted Replies:
Don’t show in Local or Federated
…and here I get confused.
I assume they don’t show in Home even if I commented on the same post.
I assume they don’t show in Home even if I follow the replier.
I don’t know if they show if I’m viewing replies to a post and do/don’t follow the person replying.
I don’t know id they show if I view the persons timeline.
There’s a great chart out there describing how public posts work. (https://axbom.com/mastodon-tips/#flowchart) but it doesn’t cover all the reply and other visibility setting ise cases. Would love to see a more comprehensive one. Hell, tell me the rules and I’ll make a chart.
