@thisismyglasgow The tenement gable is dull and boring because it was always intended to have another tenement next door . The mural certainly makes the best of a bad job but my personal preference would be to fill the gap site with a building instead of a car park.

@peterbrown You are quite right that a lot of the exposed gable ends of tenements in Glasgow are the result of buildings being needlessly torn down in the 1980s. And yes, it would be nice to see these tenements being replaced with sympathetic modern ones. Until this can happen, it's nice to see them being put to another use.

As an aside, this particular empty plot is now being used as a community garden and not a car park, and the mural compliments this use very nicely.

@thisismyglasgow oh well, that is some consolation!  And I suppose being strictly correct, I would have to add that not all were demolished, since some blank gables were in expectation of the next tenement, which never actually got built, with the threat of a new tax and then the arrival of WW1.
