STREET ART UTOPIA

It's sad to hear reports that this mural of St Enoch and a young St Mungo on a tenement on High Street in Glasgow has been removed during work currently being carried out on the building. The mural was painted in 2018 by the street artist Smug.

Love this old Guinness advert mural of the old Crown Flour Mills cart entrance on Washington Street in Glasgow. It's been painted on the wooden board which covers it, and you can still see the ghost signs for the mill above it.

The original poster was created by the artist John Gilroy, who worked for the advertising agency S.H. Benson. The Guinness for Strength campaign was first launches in 1934.

Never Avoid What Makes You Smile (8 Photos)

This set brings together 8 pieces that use humor, surprise, and simple visual tricks to change ordinary spaces. A pigeon statue crowns the Duke of Wellington monument in Glasgow, a girl with bubbles rises across a tower in Long Beach, and a giant cat appears to crawl from under a brick arch in Cheltenham. Painted shadows, googly-eye interventions, a Janis Joplin portrait in Texas, a staged moment with a stone sculpture, and a snowman-shaped mailbox complete the selection. More: Made You […]

The Duke of Wellington statue on Queen Street in Glasgow this morning, with a new take on the traditional road cone by @the.rebel.bear. What you can't see from this shot is that the pigeon is doing what pigeons usually do on statues!

Love this homage to the Jeely Piece Song from A Sign of Humour on Dougrie Place in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow.

Written by Adam McNaughtan in the 1960s, the Jeely Piece Song is a critique of widescale demolition of Glasgow's traditional tenements and their replacement by high rise flats. Sixty years later, and many of the tenements which survived are still standing, while many of the high rise flats are now gone

From a mother and child towering over Glasgow to a sleeping boy tucked under a hedge in Imbabura, this set shows buildings turned gentle: quiet portraits, birds on city walls, and scenes that bring warmth to concrete in Lleida, Karlstad, Frauenfeld, Sioux City, London, and Fene. More: Absolutely Stunning (9 Photos) 1. Mother and Child with Robin — SMUG in Glasgow, Scotland A large-scale portrait of a woman holding a child close, a robin perched on the child’s arm. One of the wonderful little mosaics in Wilma van der Meyden's Empty Bowl series around the Partick and Thornwood areas of Glasgow. This one is on an old wall on Cross Park.

I love the way this decorated bollard appears to be jogging along the Clyde Walkway in central Glasgow, like so many of the rest of us do! It's been painted by Negative Destination.
