@gpollara @mastodonusercount @tchambers If my memory serves correctly, it was around 66 per hour on average just before the takeover went through. Prior to the Twitter purchase going through there had been several waves that lasted maybe a week each.

@gpollara @tchambers basically every spike (and there are many, but they're mostly smaller 300-500/hr spikes) coincides with musk doing/saying some stupid shit, or his various pull-out attempts getting denied, or leaks/articles that make him look bad lol until he's forced to close the deal and everything goes truly buck wild

i mean. they gained 500k users over that *entire* 6 month acquisition saga. now they're gaining 500k/week :o
