If you want Mastodon to succeed, instead of posting bad things about Twitter on Mastodon, post good things about Mastodon on Twitter.
#mastodon #riptwitter
@randahl I’m pretty sure mentioning mastodon gets your tweets deboosted / spammed.
@0xc0ffea I understand this could be a theoretical possibility, but I have not seen any proof of this happening yet.
@randahl or say that you're leaving, do leave, and let it die on the vine.
@randahl Friend/acquaintance of mine posted a critical assessment of Mastodon on FaceB as having "too many tech bros and they couldn't be trusted with your data". Um..what?
@randahl or better yet, leave Twitter.
@randahl @tchambers

You are right Randahl. I am so tired of all the Twitter bashing here.

Let’s make this place a positive one.

@randahl
Twitter is dangerous and each moment there is keeping Musk’s monstrosity alive.

Spend a few days actively encouraging your community to move to Mastodon, then deactivate your account.

@randahl Does it work the other way, though? Because we have no particular interest in Mastodon "succeeding" as such.

Twitter, on the other hand, needs to hurry up and stop existing.
@randahl Posting links to Mastodon on Twitter is problematic. On the browser it attempts to login even if you already have a tab with Mastodon open -- on a mobile device it attempts to login to the browser as well even if Mastodon client is there. So saying good things is fine but attempting to show them is a pita.
@randahl Done - but I fear it would only help Elon - at its core Twitter is a machination for turning human outrage into piles of cash.
@randahl Challenge accepted - As posted on Twitter “Basically #Twitter seems to be a scheme to turn human outrage into piles of cash. #Ochlocracy - #Mastodon where #decency matters.” - I can only hope my Twitter account is suspended (for 24 hours)
@randahl Say what we are for, not what we are against, and say it repeatedly.
@randahl this approach is nice in concept but if you tweet about Mastodon the general response will be why are you on Twitter if Mastodon is better. The answer is obvious but Twitter isn't a place for that kind of nuanced conversation.
@randahl How do I transfer people I follow on Twitter easily here?
