Every time it snows where I live
@oatmeal Ouch, I know all these people.
@oatmeal Hey, I'm in Nebrahoma! lol
@oatmeal I wish this applied to Toronto
@oatmeal Small talk is an art form. Some only use crayons.
@oatmeal Where I live there is a bit of this but mostly itโ€™s โ€œRemember the blizzard of โ€˜78?โ€
@oatmeal Quite accurate for the once-every-two-years snow we get in Atlanta, too.
@roadriverrail @oatmeal
I have a friend who grew up in the snow-belt in Canada who happened to be visiting Atlanta when it snowed and he spent the entire day driving people's cars from place to place, being treated like a superhero with mysterious, otherworldly powers.
@TonyaCanning @oatmeal Thankfully, most Atlantans know when they're out of their element with snow. Even the threat of a single inch will clear the grocery stores of eggs, milk, and bread. The running gag is that we're all required to eat French toast if it snows.
@oatmeal this scene plays out in Portland with alarming regularity
@oatmeal yeah but did you hear about the Halloween 1991 blizzard in Minneapolis?
@oatmeal Can verify. And I can tag myself as all three people when I lived there.
@oatmeal same in Vancouver Canada.

@oatmeal they keep telling us 1-2 feet because we live in a lake effect snow belt here in Michigan. Most of it goes north of us though and we only got 8 inches last time.

I love that I live in a lake effect snow area...just wish we actually got it. Not like Buffalo though please...

@oatmeal Yup... ๐Ÿ˜† I'm the one in the middle... But I did complete Driver's Ed in January in the Rockies...
@oatmeal The news: "If you can see your breath, you're close to death. 10 tips on how to survive extreme conditions."
@oatmeal Every. Effin'. Time.

@oatmeal I feel exposed. -signed, Ohio native in Pacific Northwest
@oatmeal It's so true. We in the PNW are completely clueless when it comes to snow.

@oatmeal LOL ๐Ÿคฃ

I really have lived & driven in parts of the U.S. that get record snowfalls. Worst one I remember was a 1966 blizzard in upstate NY, near Rome, that dropped 8.5 feet. My dad had to climb out of a 2nd story window to shovel a tunnel to the front door from the street. We iced the interior of the tunnel & packed it. The tunnel lasted the whole winter, no more shoveling.

@oatmeal joke works up in canuckland, right next to that damned hill with the Sisyphus School on it my grandfather had to walk up both to get to and from school.
@oatmeal I'm the scruffy guy, but in Canada! ๐Ÿ˜
@oatmeal those last two are the same person. I know cause theyโ€™re both me ๐Ÿ˜œ
@oatmeal this is a fact. I am in SW WA and it's the exact same.
@oatmeal I have actually said all three today alone.
@oatmeal it's been snowing in Berlin. I am now ready to have this conversation.
@oatmeal I had a guy tell me Seattle people can't drive in the snow. I asked him where he was from. He said Detroit. I asked if they had hills. He said no. Case closed.

@oatmeal
Lol! I was so glad it finally melted. And now this!

BTW, once upon a time, a long time ago, met your brother (I think) in ER at Swedish Edmonds.

@oatmeal the college towns of nebrahoma, filled with kids in camaros who barely know how to drive them without snow and ice on the ground
@oatmeal The weather newscasters don't help since every winter storm is presented as possible "snowmageddon"
@oatmeal Iโ€™m just a bit south of the city, and the few flakes that fell today made me think of this comic. I remember seeing it oh so many years ago, and it still has a place in my brain every time it snows in the PNW lowlands.
@oatmeal I love this comic, I look it up every time we get snow in #seattle
@oatmeal in Texas itโ€™s this, but about the heat.
