Over on The Bird site, I started getting a bunch of right wing tweets in my feed because I happen to follow journalists who monitor that site. It was like turning on your faucet at watching dirty gray water come out. Blech!

@georgetakei What I find interesting is since I've been off Twitter even my Google news has been affected. I'm not sure if it's a direct result of me not using Twitter or if it's a result of the midterms concluding. However there is a discernable lack of politically charged and racially charged content in my Google feed on my phone now since I left Twitter about 3 weeks ago.

@sosa4k @georgetakei Fascinating. Not something I expected but it makes sense, now that I think about it. Google indexes Twitter. I'm sure that bias from Twitter was impacting lots of Google's algorithms. Removing the volume from Twitter likely lessened the importance associated with very politically/racially charged articles shown by Google News.
@hackerfactor @georgetakei yes agree. I think also because marketing platforms target individuals based on criteria there is probably overlapping criteria to target individuals using data from both platforms based on what you are viewing... Lots of targeting campaigns. I think my reduction in usage of Twitter reduced my footprint from being targeted as well as the regular Google ingestion of content on Twitter.
