No matter how old I get, libraries continue to be the most magical places.
@Sheril I love libraries & print books.. but I definitely find I *actually* a LOT more on my eBook reader.
I ended up migrating most of my books to digital & I'm enjoying reading again. I've used my library for a few digital loans, that's kinda cool.
But regardless of that I absolutely maintain that plentiful local, physical, libraries are essential, even though I'm part of the problem πŸ˜…
@Sheril Wish I could live there! πŸ“– 🎢 🎞️ πŸ‘ 😁
@Sheril
They were my favorite places as a kid. Still up there for me as an adult.

@Sheril

When selecting a new home 10 years ago, I bought the home across the street from our local library.

@Sheril

And peaceful.
+1 together with empty #churches

@rbently @Sheril I LOVE that Atheneum! My very favorite one. Thank you for the memory.
@Sheril true Coimbra Library is my all-time favorite and blew me away
@Sheril the smell of a library is amazing
@Sheril And my ancedotsl evidence is that the folks who work in #Libraries are the most supportive, encouraging people you will find anywhere. 10/10 recommend visiting your local Library!

@diefledermaus82 @Sheril I know a lot of the people who work at my local library and I think you're right!

My fianceΓ© is a librarian, so I have an advantage there. πŸ˜„

@Sheril I worked as a children's librarian for three years. It was the best job in the world: I was surrounded by books and children and teens.

I go to the library at least once a week.

@Sheril My girlfriend is a librarian. Can confirm she is actually a magician.
@Sheril libraries are the heart and soul of democracies and gives the poor and disenfrenchised access to education without censorship. We must keep and expand them for the public.
@Sheril @Hansolo Jacob Bronowski agrees! πŸ“–πŸ‘πŸ˜
@Sheril True! Absolute pleasure.πŸ‘πŸ‘β€οΈπŸ™
@Sheril There is a Library back in #Humboldt, I love it there. They have what they call the #HumboldtRoom and its #fantastic. Here is the URL: https://humboldtgov.org/399/Humboldt-Room

@Sheril when I feel down, I go to the library. Works like magic every time!
@Sheril Still got the hots for Dewey Decimal huh He had that effect on a lot of generations
@Sheril I prefer the bathroom personally
@Sheril truth! a day at the library is a day well spent 😎
@Sheril I was just at mine a couple of hours ago!
@Sheril
So true. I check out all the books I read and contribute to my local library foundation.
@Sheril Same! Three places I can spend hours: Library, book store, record store.
@Sheril me and my daughter go once a week and we love every minute of it
@Sheril I’m a librarian, thank you for your kind words.
@Sheril The public library system in the US is really great. I loved the ones in the Chicago suburbs. They are like ecosystems where people can do a range of activities across age groups. Unfortunately we don’t have any equivalent in India that I am aware of.
@Sheril Yes, no matter how old or how much money you have, going to the library to explore the shelves and open a new world is the best thing in the world.
@Sheril my reading habit would be so expensive without them.
@Sheril a poor photo of the lovely Mortlock wing in the South Australian State Library! A great place to study!
@Sheril ... same - a world of possibility
@Sheril I feel like the only magical library I’ve visited in my country was in Tel Aviv. That one was truly emanating another dimension vibe. My town library is kinda…meh.
@Sheril precisely put! I cannot imagine a day without thinking time and reading!
@Sheril Every day is Christmas at the library
@Sheril This summer I went to Yusuhara public library. Wow.. <3
@Sheril I had a conversation with someone just today about how much I love the library and as an adult how many people I know who never really used them growing up and don't use them now. Libraries are amazing resources for so many things.
@Sheril @ShaulaEvans The more magical the older I get! Great community hubs in addition to being a good place to write.
@Sheril Nothing better than a library!!! Just something about that experience!
@Sheril I love a library, they're pregnant with possibility.
@Sheril My daughter just started teaching high school. Today they are doing a field trip to the Newark library, and she told me that many of her students have never set foot in a library before.

@Sheril yes. Libraries and bookstores. I loved reading as a kid and basically stopped reading for pleasure for about 15 years during and after college. Starting reading again has been such a great choice and now I have to seek out a bookstore or library anytime I’m in a new city. πŸ“š 🧑
@Sheril
Oooh good idea. I live a two minute walk from our local library.
I'm going to go there today!
@Sheril I feel the same way. The calmness, the smell, the politeness of the librarians who are there for the purpose of being helpful. And most of all the promise of discovering a book or maybe a magazine I never knew about. I consider the experience to be a kind of bliss.
@Sheril Agree. I was raised in one. My Dad was a reference librarian who took me with him to work. I would sit in a big comfy chair surrounded by piles of books and slowly work my way through them. πŸ“šπŸ“š
@Sheril can't agree more! Spent 24 years working in this one
#kstate #Hale

@Sheril So heartily agreed.

There was a wonder to them when I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and that hasn't abated since.

@Sheril there are even *songs* about libraries. This one's somewhat mainstream:

@Sheril this one is less well known: SJ Tucker, Ravens in the Library https://sjtucker.bandcamp.com/track/ravens-in-the-library

It's a fantasy riff on the Ravens Brings Light to this House of Stories exhibit at the Allen Library at the University of Washington:

@Sheril I recently went back to the library where I hung out as a child and it was the absolute most magical experience I've had in ages!
@Sheril Once every month or two I learn something new about my about my local library and it is never a bad thing
