GOD SMITES MUSK for misusing Latin quote β€˜Vox Populi, Vox Dei.'

Boost to SMITE MUSK!

@godpod More like "Vox botuli, vox malum" in the case of Musk.
@godpod he really meant β€œRoma locuta, causa finita.” It had nothing to do with any demand from the people. Just one man imposing his will yet again.
@godpod I will smite Space Karen any day!
@godpod More like the will of the bots.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Love it.

@godpod Smite boosters are GO!
@godpod I'm not actually a big fan of the original quote. Tom Nicholas explains it well here (https://youtu.be/Ns_qnfUqEJI) but the gist is that people in authority gain by delegitimising crowds and attributing a madness to them. I do support Elon Musk's version (and indeed, today's popular version) of the quote in most cases where the people aren't grossly ignorant about the topic at hand, and I believe that the modification of the quote has nothing to do with the quality of its message.

@godpod Of course, I wholeheartedly disagree with Trump's presence on Twitter, having previously used it to incite an insurrection. Elon has gotten a HUGE sampling bias by putting the poll from his personal account.

At the same time I disagree with the glorification of a quote I find problematic to criticize Musk - because as far as I am concerned, the problem isn't the quote, it's every damn thing else.

@godpod Love your podcast version. Glad you are on Mastodon :)
@godpod Vox Populi. Vox Dei.
@godpod I shall boost and re-boost if you could do this smiting asap. πŸ––πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

@godpod two quick questions:
First, is this clip on tiktok? I know a few people who'd love it.

Second, when are you going on the @MeidasTouch podcast? That would be some fun cross promotion for both of you.
