Uh… what happened to https://mastodon.social/@Meyerweb/109430741858138880? I can’t see it, either in threads or by going there directly.
Great, apparently I somehow managed to delete my first-ever viral toot. And people were finding it so useful, too. 😭
@Meyerweb Maybe @Gargron can find it?
@cdevroe I suspect they have better and much more pressing things to do right now than look into a single-toot loss, but I appreciate the thought.
@Meyerweb @cdevroe What apps do you use? Is there any chance you pressed delete somewhere accidentally?
@Meyerweb lol, surely somebody will have a screenshot so they can taunt you with it for years to come. oh wait this isn't tw...
@Meyerweb Guess that unlimited power was short-lived ☹️
@Fyrd I mean, the problem with unlimited power is that unlimited means there are no guard rails…
@Meyerweb Some all-powerful genie, can't even bring a toot back from the dead.

@Meyerweb Why don't you toot it again. Let's make it go around the world second time!

Everybody is experimenting with Mastodon anyway, they don't mind seeing it twice.

@[email protected] …I really don't enjoy the phrase "viral toot"
@Meyerweb For the future, there is an option in settings to ask for confirmation before deleting. (under Appearance > scroll to heading Confirmation Dialogs)
@AmeliaBR I have that set on my home instance, but I think I must have mis-clicked something while using Pinafore as my UI. Alas, alack.

@Meyerweb Were you trying to edit using Pinafore? I don't think they have full editing support yet, only delete & redraft.

And I just tested, they don't have the "all boosts & favourites will be lost, and replies left orphaned" delete & redraft warning like the web app does. So if you hit that, then backed out of the redraft editor because that isn't what you wanted, yeah, it would just delete.

@AmeliaBR I think it might have been that. Feels about right, anyway.

@Meyerweb Are the "I just edited..." and "I just lost..." toots related? Did editing cause it to go away?
