Has anyone built a tool to search users on mastodon? Want to find more #machinelearning #artificialintelligence users to follow, especially in #deeplearning or in the fluid dynamics/weather/climate space. Twitter has always been great to discover new papers and research!
@jeremy_mcgibbon following hashtags has been really useful for me to find people -- of course doesn't work if people don't use them!
@lbarquist I can follow hashtags, but I much prefer following individuals like https://sigmoid.social/@akhaliq who curate and post really high quality and interesting machine learning research.

@jeremy_mcgibbon Following particular hashtags like #MachineLearning lets you find people who are posting on that particular subject and when you find one who consistently posts interesting stuff, you can follow them.

Or, you go through the following lists of people doing interesting stuff and then follow them. That’s the methods that has worked for me.

While a user finder might be useful, I believe historically people on Mastodon might be averse to that for other reasons …
