Intro ... Struggling to get the hang of Mastodon, but making progress. Enjoying the vibe here. I'm embracing the concept of a second career after 40 years as a Emergency Physician.

@88gbjerke88 Some of the best coworkers I've had have been career changers! Good luck!

You got this. Tell me about your #wimhof practice. And welcome to Mastodon. :)

@smyth
After a year of enjoying the meditative space post-breathhold, I've morphed to dry sauna "Tummo". 11 minutes forceful nasal inhales / open mouth exhales followed by 11 minutes forceful open mouth inhales. Infrared sauna. I heat up rapidly, likely due to hyperventilating warm air. Pure breath hold is only a minute or so, likely due to the exertion during breathing. Then several minutes of "minimal breathing" meditation. Loving cold exposure practice as well. Peace.

11 minutes is pretty serious business. Where did you pick up the technique? Any materials you recommend or liked?

@smyth James Nestor's book "Breath" got me started on the power of nasal breathing, the same time I started using Wim’s app. Nestor's book is great and he mentions many types of "Breath Work". My current practice happened randomly. I wanted a 30 minute routine for the sauna. I tried a Wim session and loved it. 11 minutes nasal inhale deep breathing, 11 minutes open mouth deep breathing, 1 - 2 minutes meditative breath hold and 7 - 8 minutes meditative tiny breaths.

Hi there, friend of Bill, me too! Well met!

Greetings to you my friend and love your chip Avatar. I've been clean and sober since September 1998, but was white knuckling and stark-raving sober until 2002 when I finally surrendered and started working the program. What a wonderfully different life. Grateful to realize that there truly is no problem without a gift in it's hands.

Nice to meet you, funny I was dry without a program for several years too till I hit an emotional bottom and found AA.

We don't have to live that way any more 🙏💚
