These are the Biden holiday decorations, just unveiled by our first lady, Dr. Jill Biden.
My first thought was, “What, no blood red scary trees, symbolizing the blood of our enemies?!”
It’s sure nice to have normal back. In so many ways.
@georgetakei Oh yeah, this is understated.
@georgetakei That blood red thing was truly bizarre.
@MartinNutbeem @georgetakei The hallways looked like the path you took in a video game towards the final boss.
@georgetakei Good one George - that was such a scary time.
@georgetakei It sure is a lot cozier than that "Jadis of Charn, White Witch of Narnia" theme under TFG.
@georgetakei I’m sorry I assumed those tall red things Melanie installed were a veiled advertisement for tampons Not the blood of our enemies
@georgetakei “normal” has been very nice, although I do miss the amazing Saturday Night Live skits, but certainly don’t want it back.
@georgetakei I'm glad you're here George.
@georgetakei nice to have a First Lady who doesn’t hate Christmas.
@georgetakei Unlike Melania's, this year's White House Christmas was not sponsored by Tampax.
@georgetakei This meme from 2018 was hilarious.
@georgetakei I get it, but lots of American's are struggling. Maybe less would have meant more?
@georgetakei Melania's decorations looked like scene out of some Stephen King novel.
@emmreef @georgetakei the horror crowd was totally into it
@georgetakei total class from the Bidens
@georgetakei If he used red it would trigger the crazy Satanic Panic people 😂
@georgetakei Lovely - tasteful and warmly traditional 🥰
@georgetakei Classy and sweet, just like the Bidens. Here is a video of highlights: https://news.twtr.plus/users/thehill/statuses/1597259270189293569

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden unveils her Christmas 2022 White House decorations themed "We the People."

Nitter
@georgetakei You and I are thinking alike.

@david_darmofal @georgetakei

That must have been the "red wave" #Republicans /Fox News was talking about 🤣. Maybe a bit of a mixup? 🤷🏾‍♀️

What was Melania thinking when she agreed to that red forest? 🤔

Oh that's right, she really doesn't care..... 😏

@georgetakei I dunno. I loathed everything about Trump's in the White House but I kinda liked Melania's Chirstmas decor. I mean it had a little Beetlejuice vibe but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@georgetakei

Fox has a total meltdown over the Biden war on Christmas for some reason in 3.. 2...

@DocDeezWhat @georgetakei war on Christmas??
@sxpert @georgetakei 'tis the season for Fox to have a meltdown over the fictional war on Christmas now that fictional migrant caravan season is over
@georgetakei @DocDeezWhat hah… time to commit them all to Arkham Asylum

@georgetakei

You didn't like the creepy Melanoma Christmas?

@AndyHarrison @georgetakei Look how fun it looks this year! I wouldn't be worried about young children having nightmares after walking down this hall.
@georgetakei The green décor suggests tranquility and calmness.
@georgetakei it looks so ... understated, with nothing to prove.
@georgetakei Wow, tasteful, elegant, and classy -- three things that can NEVER be said about the previous occupants.
@georgetakei I wondering if we'll ever see a mid-century modern themed Whitehouse Christmas.

@georgetakei very wholesome, but it makes me uncomfortable.

The White House belongs to all Americans, not just Christians. Whether or not the Bidens celebrate Christmas, the White House should have decorations year round to mark everyone else’s traditions and those should get equal fanfare.

Official Christmas decor without non-Christian representation promotes the dangerous notion that this is a Christian nation.

@taephoenix @georgetakei

While the modern Christmas Tree is associated with Christianity, there's no religious justification for it - bringing evergreens into the house over winter was a pagan tradition, while German Christians were allegedly the first to start decorating them. The trend didn't really take off more widely until a German called Albert introduced the custom to his English wife, Victoria...

@mittfh @georgetakei

Evergreens, sure. Celebrate the solstice with some pretty branches.

The tree?

Jews don't put those up unless we're part of an interfaith family. Otherwise we get the side eye from fellow Jews.

Muslims don't either.

Know who does? Christians.

It's been co-opted, but it's a Christian religious symbol and putting one in The People's House is playing favorites.

We're a secular society, not a Christian nation.

@georgetakei I love a modern stark aesthetic, but this is truly beautiful and warms in a way the PEOPLE’S house should! ❤️✨❤️
@georgetakei it’s leaking the smell of children.
@georgetakei I like when the decorations are more subtle and doesn't look like Hobby Lobby threw up all over the place. The warmth makes it look like people actually enjoy the decorations and the places they're set up in. The soft glow of the lights and stuff do make the blustery, cold and dark places more welcoming. That's the thing I do like about most x-mas decorating. I'm gonna go the Yule Log route myself, I think, instead. Doubt you could do that on the White House lawn.
Frankly, If I were president (or the wife), I wouldn't bother decorating. Or I'd let staffers do it in their own spaces the way they wanted to. Maybe a small tree in the family area just for us, but if others wanted to put up their own beliefs' holiday decorations or acknowledgment, I'd be cool with that.
Besides, I'd be the weirdo trying to find a flying spaghetti monster tree topper (or make my own). R'amen!
@georgetakei
Normal? a presidential living room of some sort? normal? :o)
@georgetakei that looks so festive
@georgetakei Beautiful!! So glad there are no more demonic, blood red, Russian themed Christmas decorations! So wonderful to have a tasteful beautiful Christmas Decor again.

@georgetakei

I am colorblind.
Am I lucky or deprived in this case?

@georgetakei The FFL had a knack for modern decorations.Nothing wrong with that,but I found them to be cold and uninviting.Those red trees looked like someone died cutting them.
@georgetakei
Oh, look! A room you're not afraid to walk into! Downright homey, actually.
@georgetakei A smart person would think before they speak and research what they say first. If they did they'd know the Obama's decorated with a lot of red.
@georgetakei jill is no Michelle but thank God she’s also no miss Trump

Melania Surveys The White House at Xmas

In the Biden home, the trees are green
And extremely ordinary
And nobody knows why the fake winter snow's
Not whiter than Matthew Perry

And their stockings are hung by the chimney, among
The holly, placed there with care
And every single Christmas light twinkles
Instead of a glassy-eyed stare

But perhaps the most vexing, really perplexing
Part of their holiday cheer
Is the fact that the people are so quite agreeable
To have them come back next year!
