Missed my walk in the park this morning. So going on a memory walk through the Bonsai collection at the Arboretum in Canberra. #bonsai #walk #memory
The bonsai collection there was amazing. Learned so much.
The flowering bonsai were gorgeous
Loved the quirkiness of this one
Hadn’t really considered that Australian trees could be bonsais before I visited. Love coastal banksias and was amazed by how much the sense of the larger tree was contained in such a smaller space. Like concentrated trees.
Even the shape of the bare branches on a bonsai is beautiful
Another Aussie bonsai - those lovely eucalyptus leaves!
The split trunk of this bonsai tree with its toes sinking into the mossy earth was eye catching.
This bonsai was more like a driftwood sculpture than a tree.
Going to have to sort out mum’s lunch so that’s the end of the memory walk for now.
@psychopoesie where in the arboretum is this? I'd love to check it out next visit to Canberra.
@lizzie_g it’s been a few years since I visited but was just off the side of the main building. So really easy to find. https://www.nationalarboretum.act.gov.au/living-collections/national-bonsai-and-penjing-collection-of-australia
