Wrote a 2200-word blog post today!

How?

Easy 👇

1. Used Jasper.ai to sketch an outline and built the skeleton of the article.

2. Added additional content from additional desk research, notes from my second brain in Obsidian and following up on ideas raised by Jasper.

3. Rewrote the whole thing in my own words.

4. Optimised the text for SEO / Google search results

5. Uploaded to WordPress and published 🥳

My takeaway:

I strongly believe we should be teaching students how to use technology to write rather than penalising them for working with tools commonly used in industry.

You still need foundational knowledge to create, evaluate, and craft writing, even if you initially use AI to create it.

AI that’s built for marketing – Jasper

Jasper is purpose-built AI that helps enterprise marketers build AI-powered apps and workflows tied to real business outcomes.

@bron Interesting way of doing it, thanks for sharing your process! Did you find much divergence of the overall 'flow' from what you would've otherwise written?

@matthras I found that it made the whole process much easier. First drafts are my major roadblock, so working with the AI to design the first draft makes the rest of the process flow.

You end up drawing on the skills of 'editor' and 'expert' in the process i.e. shaping it rather than staring at a blank page wondering where to start.

@bron Ooooh I didn't think of using AI to assist with one's weaknesses/roadblocks, that's actually a really good point! My struggle with blog posts is more with expressing my ideas in a way that I like it, so I guess some experimentation is in order.

While I don't trust the majority to 'correctly' use AI in the way that you do, you've definitely opened my mind to thinking about how we can engage AI for useful things. Thank you so much for sharing!
