Some applied maths talks I've been to have centred around a theory called GSPT where a main mechanism is applying inverse transformations, colloqually called "blowing up".

Imagine if two mathematicians were having a conversation about this on a plane 😅😂

I'm hoping I fixed my thesis-writing mental block by finally getting offline LaTeX to work on my locked down university-supplied laptop. It meant I had to install portable versions of MiKTeX and StrawberryPerl and configure settings in VS Code. I just can't use Overleaf, sorry.
Threads has been really nice for me to keep up with the chatter + speculation + insights following The Pitt episodes, especially since how the algorithm is much more obvious in recommending similar topics and therefore easier to manipulate. Mmmmm goss 😋

Working through an ethics application for the first time and my brain is seizing up at having to provide descriptions in "plain/accessible" language.

I know I can do this, just my usual "brain overthinking the first time I do anything new" feelings, bleh.

There's a guy at another campus that has various mathematically patterned shirts ALL HANDMADE BY HIS MOTHER/PARTNER(?) and if that isn't going to make me master sewing and making my own purely out of (playful) spite and jealousy, nothing will 😤
There's a really nice anime this season "The Invisible Man and His Soon-To-Be Wife" (who is blind) that also has other species races. On top of a typical love story it explores day-to-day scenarios where species (racial) differences can cause conflict and misunderstandings.
I thought I was slightly crazy for doing white rice/brown rice/chickpea mix for my meal prep then I saw an Instagram reel of a Korean mother who includes (hydrated) chia seeds and like 4 different types of beans and various other things. I should emulate this.
I didn't need to burn two hours this morning trying to debone a whole chicken (for the first time!) but I'm glad that particular piece of whimsy has been satisfied and is now hopefully out of my psyche. 🙃
Mewgenics is starting to have the same problem like with Binding of Isaac for me: Getting in deeper means the runs take longer, but pausing the game and coming back later (when I've mostly forgotten the run's builds & considerations, etc.) is not ideal. Ah well.
Today's Good Thing: I finally found a slightly run down grumpy-looking mom & pop Asian restaurant with all Asian customers that served a very delicious and flavourful cold dry noodles dish 😋 Hit me right in the nostalgia 😁
