Twitter, at the moment, is like going to a holiday get together with your family. Yeah, there are some cool people there and you get to see some folks you miss and have interesting surface-level conversations with them, but there are also racists and fascists and someone trying to rope you into a pyramid scheme.

Mastodon is coming home afterwards and meeting up with your friends and decompressing with people you choose to hang with, in pajama pants and a hoodie.

@MCBazacoPhD in my opinion, the goal should not to flip people but to NUDGE them to the center. Extreme left are more likely to flip to extreme right & the extreme right are more likely to flip to extreme left. Hear this horshoe theory from Tim Miller. The far left is just as susceptible to a Qanon conspiracy-like theories as the far right in my opinion.

i have a "that uncle" - he's got the pyramids and possibly a bit of racism.

but he has never mentioned The Protocols of the Elders of Zion over Christmas lunch … or claimed the earth is flat…
